Likes for products · Madai

Likes for products (“the App”) is a Shopify app built by Madai (madai.pro). It adds a like button (heart or thumbs up) to product pages and shows the merchant which products get the most likes. This policy explains what data the App collects, why, and how it is handled.

Information from merchants

When a merchant installs the App, Shopify gives us the store’s domain and an access token so the App can work. We also read basic product data (title, handle, image, status and vendor) only to show the ranking and build the Excel export. We do not read orders, payment details or customer profiles.

Information from store visitors

For each like the App stores: the product ID, the date and time, and a random anonymous ID generated in the visitor’s browser. The App does not use customer accounts and never stores names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses or IP addresses.

To remember that a visitor already liked a product, the App saves the random ID in the browser’s local storage and in a first-party cookie named pl_visitor_id that lasts up to 2 years. It is used only for this purpose, not for advertising or tracking across sites.

How we use the information

Only to count likes (one per visitor per product), show the like state on the button, display the ranking to the merchant and generate the Excel export the merchant requests. We do not sell or share the data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Where the data is stored

The App runs on Vercel and stores data in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase, both in the United States. Connections are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) and the database is not publicly accessible.

Retention and deletion

Like counts are kept while the App is installed so the counter never resets on its own. Merchants can reset any product’s counter from the App, which deletes its recorded likes.

The App keeps no data linked to customer accounts. 48 hours after a merchant uninstalls the App, Shopify asks us to erase the store’s data and we delete all likes, counters and access tokens for that store.

Your rights

Merchants and shoppers can request access to, or deletion of, their data by writing to the contact address below. Shoppers can also contact the store, which can forward the request through Shopify.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date below.
